Why am I Blogging?

Now I really don't know why! I just screwed up my first blog! Oh, well, lets move attempt number two down the road. First off, I am computerally challenged. I can't type, pixels could be a character on Midsummer's Night's Dream and all the little signs and arrows within a windows program, usually mean the opposite of what I think they do. Good thing for me I married a programmer. Too late in life, I'm afraid to save me, but soon enough to aquire a guide to muddle through!
I mentioned in my bio that I am a liberal. Letters to the Editor of the Arizona Republic newspaper is one of my passsions. So is writing long letters to this column and getting published.. about once a year. The need to write is a daily urge. Arizona is conservative, that is like saying that 122 degree heat is.. warm! Someone wrote in before the election that we needed to re-elect Bush so that he could fix his mistakes. That reminds me of being in Minnesota when the hot topic was daylight savings time and a woman wrote to the editor of the Minneapolis Tribune and took her stand against daylight saving time because the extra hour of sunlight was killing her grass!
Blogging sounds like the perfect place to blow off steam. I find myself coming up with arguments, rebuttles and hysterical laughter to the postures assumed by some of our deluded, dogmatic right wingers. I don't want o ridicule, particularily. What we all need is to start talking about how this country should come together. There are many problems that need fixing why we argue. Stem cell research, global warming, the economy, poverty, keeping our senior citizens out of poverty, healthcare, war and that's not even the tip of the iceberg!
Let's talk about Homeland Security and the grassroots descent into fascism because of it. How about that Arizona Immigration "Posse"? They went down to the border to round 'em up like cattle! Is that right? If we believe our own Declaration of Independence, it is not right! Guess what? Our airports are not safer than they were pre 9/11! Guess what? We are on our way to losing as many lives in Iraq as we did at the Trade Center. What are we doing?
I guess we are going to get even by tearing down Social Security. If the drugs get too expensive, we are going to have to dismantle Medicare as well. Why aren't we trying to fix the problem? What is wrong with raising the 90,000 dollar limit on Social Security or putting a ceiling on drug pricing to make it fair and affordable for everyone?
Well, thanks for listening. I'm happy to be here, even if I screwed up my first blog! I'll read the paper tomorrow and we'll start tackling some specifics. Even if no one else is listening, it still sounds better than muttering in an elevator!
